28 May 2025, Lausanne – The Adjudicatory Body of the Aquatics Integrity Unit (AQIU) has imposed a four-year suspension and a fine of USD 25,000 on Mr Agron Zeqiri, former President of the Kosovo Swimming Federation, for multiple violations of the World Aquatics Integrity Code.
The AQIU found Mr Zeqiri to have abused his position to prevent certain athletes of his federation from participating in the World Aquatics Championships and the Olympic Games.
During the period of suspension, Mr Zeqiri is prohibited from holding any position within World Aquatics, its Continental Organisations, Member Federations (including the Kosovo Swimming Federation), or any affiliated or recognised body. He is also barred from participating in, attending, or representing these entities in any capacity at any aquatic-related activities, events, or competitions.
The AQIU remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in aquatic sports. To safeguard the health, safety, and well-being of athletes, all World Aquatics stakeholders are encouraged to review the Integrity Code, which sets clear, consistent ethical standards for everyone involved in aquatics activities.
