2025 Anti-Doping Testing Statistics

Lausanne, 17 April 2026 – The Aquatics Integrity Unit (AQIU) has published the 2025 Anti-Doping Testing Statistics, highlighting a significant number of samples collected and the continued efforts to protect clean sport across aquatic disciplines.

In 2025, the International Testing Agency (ITA) implemented a comprehensive, intelligence-led and risk-based testing programme. A total of 5,345 samples were collected from 1,786 athletes representing 117 nationalities. This reflects an increase in the number of athletes tested compared to 2024, during which 1,527 athletes from 109 nationalities were tested. The World Aquatics Championships in Singapore also represented a key focus of the programme, with more than 600 tests conducted during the event.

Throughout the year, the ITA further strengthened the World Aquatics anti-doping programme through the integration of innovative sample collection and laboratory methodologies, including Dried Blood Spot (DBS) testing, blood steroidal analysis, and endocrine profiling.

In addition, athlete-by-athlete testing data for 2025 has been published, offering detailed insights into individual testing statistics and further reinforcing transparency in anti-doping efforts.

The tests, conducted by the ITA and other anti-doping organisations, reflect a coordinated global effort to promote clean sport. On this Play True Day, our ongoing efforts reinforce the shared commitment across the aquatics community to uphold integrity, fairness, and the values of clean sport worldwide.
