AQIU Suspends Ukrainian Physiotherapist Mykola Zuban for Two and a Half Years 

Lausanne, 11 May 2026 – The Aquatics Integrity Unit (AQIU) has imposed a two-and-a-half-year suspension on Ukrainian physiotherapist Mykola Zuban for violating Article 4.1.7 of the World Aquatics Rules on the Protection from Harassment and Abuse, as well as Articles 5.1, 5.3 and 5.5 of the World Aquatics Integrity Code. 

Mr Zuban’s period of suspension runs until 5 November 2028. Additionally, the sanction includes a suspended period of one and a half years, which will only be enforced if he commits another violation of any World Aquatics rules within four years. 

During the suspension, Mr Zuban is not allowed to hold any position, including physiotherapist, within World Aquatics, any World Aquatics Continental Organisation, or any World Aquatics Member Federation, including affiliated clubs or recognised bodies. The suspension shall also prevent him from taking part in, or attending in any capacity, any aquatic-related activities or events organised by World Aquatics, any World Aquatics Continental Organisation, any World Aquatics Member Federation, any club, or any other recognised body. 

The AQIU remains firmly committed to safeguarding the safety and welfare of all athletes participating in World Aquatics events and to ensuring a safe and respectful environment across the aquatic sports community.
